Rex Davis: A Home Online for an Author, Speaker, and Storyteller

How we built rexalandavis.com, a website that brings together a retired Army officer's book, stories, speaking, and podcast in one place.

The rexalandavis.com homepage, with Rex Davis seated in a sunlit living room

Rex Davis is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, a pastor, and the author of Free Fall: Life Lessons That Caught Me When the Parachute Didn't. The book grew out of a parachute accident during his Army service and the long recovery that followed. He's also a speaker, and he co-hosts the Generation 2 Generation podcast with his daughter, Eva.

The challenge

Rex's work lives in several places at once: a book in print and on Audible, a speaking ministry, stories from a long career, and a podcast. Without a single home, someone who heard him speak or read the book had no clear next step: no obvious place to buy the book, book him for an event, or find the podcast.

The site needed to feel personal and warm, like sitting down for a conversation, while still guiding visitors toward a few clear actions.

What we built

A homepage that starts with the person

The homepage opens with Rex himself and the line that sums up his message: changing the world one story at a time. Rather than a list of services, it introduces his conviction that every one of us is responsible for the stories we carry, and invites visitors to keep reading.

The book, front and center

Free Fall gets its own section with the full story behind it, how each chapter ends with practical reflection points, and direct links to buy it in paperback, hardcover, Kindle, or on Audible.

Stories visitors can explore

An interactive set of story cards highlights the ordinary moments, like a napkin, a fireplace, or a parachute, that taught Rex extraordinary lessons. Visitors tap a card to reveal the lesson, which gives a feel for the book without giving it away.

A clear path to the next step

From anywhere on the site, visitors can buy the book, request Rex as a speaker, listen to the podcast, or get in touch. The site's "Crawl. Walk. Run. Finish." section turns a lesson from his Army training into the frame for his message about finishing well.

The result

Rex now has one place that ties his book, stories, speaking, and podcast together, with clear calls to action for readers, event planners, and listeners. Cypress Solutions hosts and looks after the site, so it stays fast, secure, and up to date as new stories, events, and episodes come along.

We're also building a custom platform for the Generation 2 Generation podcast, which will be featured here once it launches.
